Happy November, everyone! Though the holiday season just arrived, we’ve been in “the spirit” for the last couple of weeks. As I’m from Kentucky and my sis-in-law’s from Ohio, we have an extra appreciation for holiday tradition and making a fresh apple pie is one of them! So on a cool Saturday morning, Neema, his brother, and my sister-in-law drove an hour north to Apple-A-Day Farms in Sebastopol for a day of apple picking.
No petting zoo, no hayrides, no lengthy lines. Just a small shack selling cider and acres of apple trees. We were surprised to see that though it was later in the season, the farm seemed untouched. Every tree still brimming with apples of all kinds and colors! What’s a day of apple picking without a fall picnic complete with wine and pumpkin beer? At least that’s how us midwesterners do it!
The weather called for something warm and waterproof due to the recent rain. Lucky for me, I’d just stopped into Madewell and picked up this overall jumper and plaid scarf. I’ll be honest, when I retired my overalls in the 6th grade, I never imagine buckling myself into another pair. Like ever. But the pinafore’s this season are too cute to resist! I also slipped on my trusty Hunter boots for the first time this year. I have the classic version but am also loving the tailored and wedge versions.
