I enjoy long, sunset walks by the ocean. Call me any stereotype you wish. “Basic”, “marina girl”, a “hopeless romantic” — I’ll own up to them all. I just can’t deny my love for the water.
Each year growing up, my family would escape the land-locked state of Kentucky and drive down to the Florida coast. Back then, my parent’s only form of navigation was a wrinkly MapQuest printout and highway signs. Instead of paying attention to the mile markers, I’d try my best to sleep. I knew the longer I slept, the sooner we’d get there.
My dad understood there was only one milestone I was interested in. At the first sight of palm trees, he’d gleefully yell for me to wake up.
I’d spring out from under my own sea of covers, suddenly aware of my surroundings. We’re almost there. I’d eagerly roll down the window and breath in that briny, invigorating smell of the ocean. We’re practically there.
Today, I’m lucky to live just a short walk from the bay. The water isn’t as warm as the Gulf’s and I’m no longer fearless enough to jump in. However, one of the most powerful human senses takes me back. I breath in and the salty evening air transports me to a familiar place.
I’m practically there.
If there’s one look I can’t get enough of this season, it’s this one. Let’s be honest, I’ll welcome any opportunity to walk around town in a warm wool blanket and not be judged for it. My favorite way to wear a cape is draped over a fitted turtleneck. Does it get any cozier?
To help cut through the Black Friday noise, I’ve pulled my favorite cape deals from across the web. Either the cape is individually on sale or the site is offering a 20-30% discount at checkout. It’s the perfect time to stock up on this winter weather staple!
Wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving! This year, I’m so grateful for you and your support.
