I step out into the cool morning air. A brisk current sweeps by — I shiver and take a quick sip of coffee for warmth. It works, simultaneously awakening my senses. I pause purposefully, shut my eyes, and inhale. Here in the hills, the oxygen is intoxicating. It’s filled with fragrances concrete jungles rarely possess.
Like the smell of damp soil from a cold, misty night. Or the familiar scent of pine trees, centuries old.
It’s good to be home.
Well, not technically “home”. That home is 2,000 miles east, and occasionally, it feels 2,000 miles too far. So, I’m grateful for this. My second “home” only an hour out of the city.
It’s where on Sunday nights, us “kids” huddle around my father-in-law’s barbecue. Drawn by the smell of burning charcoal and seared steak. It’s where I can be sure, if I hover long enough, he’ll carve me an exclusive bite, hot off the grill. It’s where you can hear the cheerful laugh of my mother-in-law from the other room, thankful for her family and Sunday traditions. Most of all, it’s where I find comfort when the city takes its toll.
I once read that home is not a place, it’s a feeling.
It feels good to be home.
There’s a casual comfort that comes with being at home. Gone is the pressure to perform or impress. Life just seems a bit simpler.
This cardigan’s clean lines and block coloring embody simplicity. Its fabric is heavy and extremely soft, sure to keep you warm whether you’re lounging with the family or running errands around town. The best part is, Goodnight Macaroon has included it in their flash sale! For the next 24 hours, this sweater is 50% off! It also comes in a gorgeous navy and yellow combination. I’d love to hear which combo’s your favorite!
