Delicious pink bubbles tickle my nose, prompting me to take in the fresh Napa air. I can smell the richness of the soil mixed with hints of rose, a combination concocted by a passing breeze. I take another swig of sparkling wine and venture deeper into a sea of green. I wouldn’t mind getting lost in the vines.
I glance back and see the Chateau of Domaine Carneros, elegantly perched on the hilltop. It’s as if it’s been there for centuries. The surrounding landscape exudes French elegance, brimming with blooms in the newfound season. A grand staircase leads to a veranda of white umbrellas and double doors, strongly favoring France’s Château de la Marquetterie.
In the distance, I can hear the clinking of crystal, the elated laughter from patrons sipping from their flutes, eager to experience the feeling. The feeling only sparkling wine can induce.
I turn back to the vineyard, soaking in the view and the sun on my skin. Napa’s never looked so unfamiliar, never seemed so far from home. I smile because that’s just why I’m here — to get lost in the vines.
Domaine Carneros was the very first winery I visited in Napa almost six years ago. For that and so many reasons it will forever hold a special place in my heart. The Chateau calls for a French country feel, which is why I opted for this lightweight linen dress from Nordstrom. I love the neutral stripes which are perfectly positioned to extenuate all of the right areas. The dress wraps and ties in the back, even further flattering your figure. The fits true to size (I’m wearing a small) but if you’re bustier, I would order one size up.
I’ve added a few of my favorite French country inspired dresses below — perfect for wedding season or your next trip to wine country!
