Growing up in Kentucky, fried chicken was a staple — the food of my ancestors. Okay, fine. Maybe I can’t trace that claim back through my lineage but I do know that my immediate family would agree. Together, we’re forever grateful to the fried chicken patriarch, KFC founder, Colonel Sanders.
When I moved to San Francisco, I had to sniff out the best fried chicken in town. Through the help of my friends, I found Wayfare Tavern, an upscale eatery rumored to have a fried chicken entree that could sooth a crispy craving like none other.
It did not disappoint.
Their chicken is seasoned with a savory blend of herbs and spices and topped with crispy sage. You can forget your traditional condiments, the house recommends topping it off with a squeeze of fresh lemon.
It. Is. Divine.
On top of the chicken, there’s the atmosphere. It transports you to an era of jazz, top hats and long overcoats. You can’t help but admire the grand bar, marble tabletops, and oversized fireplace. As you walk in, you’re greeted by a friendly bartender donning a white jacket and black tie. He promptly takes your order…
“Hangar one, dirty, but not too dirty. Oh, and three olives, please!”
When it comes to achieving a timeless look, you can never go wrong with head-to-toe black. I picked up this sleeveless sweater from LOFT and love how versatile it is. Depending on the temperature and occasion, slip a blouse underneath for more coverage or layer with a blazer.
Can we talk about these marble-lous earrings? Statement earrings usually don’t appeal to me as I generally go for a more simplistic look but one glance at these beauties and I was a changed woman. They’re perfect for adding a little glam to your holiday wardrobe. Unfortunately, they’re out of stock right now but add your name to the waitlist and they’ll notify you when they’re available!
In the meantime, take a peek at a few more drop earring options I’m eyeing for the holiday season!
