LOCATION: O’BRIEN ESTATE WINERY
A crystal chandelier shimmers in the afternoon light, catching my eye as it dances. I glance up and see it swinging from an old oak tree, out of place in nature but somehow, it belongs. Here, I’m submerged in the romance of the vineyard — surrounded by rose bushes and vines. It’s serene here, untainted by tourism. A hidden oasis reserved for those in love. In the distance, the hills roll on and on, only stopping when they meet the sinking sun. The wind blows, parting the trees just enough for golden hour to warm my face — my cheeks already flushed from the wine and his promise.
For me and Neema, O’Brien Estate will always be “our place”. Not just for the stunning scenery or deliciously bold wines, but because it’s where Neema proposed (“his promise”) two and half years ago. It’s said to be the most romantic winery in Napa, not surprising giving the vineyard’s backstory. O’Brien’s was founded on the romance of its owners, each bottle named after a different stage of their relationship.
Though O’Brien’s has chandeliers hanging from the trees, it doesn’t call for dressy attire. In fact, it’s a backyard feel, comfortable and homey. One of my favorite styles to wear when going to Napa is the maxi. I’m wearing this v-neck chambray dress from Shop Lombard & Fifth’s spring collection. The other star of the show is this Sole Society bag. I can’t get over the fringe — it’s perfect for the summer.
