San Francisco has had many nicknames over the years but it’s “Paris of the West” that steals my hopelessly romantic heart.
Known for its diverse cuisine and rich culture, San Francisco has often been compared to France’s charming capital.
In fact, back in the early 1900’s, Mayor Phelan drafted up a plan to turn San Francisco into a more modern version of Paris. Though the plan was never fully implemented, the French influence did make its way into many aspects of the city, including the architecture.
Grace Cathedral is a prime example of Parisian influence in San Francisco and one of my favorite landmarks for that very reason. Complete with pointed arches, flying buttresses, and stained glass windows, its French Goth aesthetic has an uncanny resemblance to Paris’s own famed cathedral, Notre Dame.
Standing on the grounds of Grace Cathedral, you can take in all of San Francisco’s downtown cityscape. Though it may not be the City of Lights, it’s definitely my City of Love.
To quote Audrey Hepburn, “Paris is always a good idea.” My sentiments are the same when it comes to a flirty full skirt like this one. And given Audrey’s iconic style, I bet she’d agree.
I love this timeless silhouette featuring a high neckline, tailored pleats, and A-line skirt. The fabric is blooming with peonies, adding even more romance to an already dreamy dress.
