Do you hear that? That’s the sound of church bells ringing and champagne flutes clinking. It’s the “please raise your glass” cheers’ing to love, laughter, and a happy ever after. Yes, wedding season is officially upon us and I couldn’t be more excited. There is nothing I love more than dressing up, celebrating friends, and getting down on a crowded dance floor to 90’s hip-hop (Biggie!).
A wedding-packed summer can come with a lot of “What should I wear?” anxiety. And with formal weddings on the rise, there are a few ways you can ensure you’re dressing the part.
- Bring the Drama: I don’t mean guzzle all of the drinks on an empty stomach and be “that girl”… I mean make a bold statement by finding a dress with an extra flare, something unique and fun! For me, I’m obsessed with everything ruffles this season so this oversized ruffled shoulder number from ASOS offered the perfect amount of “drama” at the perfect price – $60! You can find a similar option here which comes in an array of colors like navy, red, and emerald green.
2. Add a Spark (or Two): Layering statement pieces will surely add a touch of glam to any ensemble. But what’s more glamorous than sparkly jewelry? Sparkly jewelry with a story. I’m talking vintage, one-of-a-kind pieces, like my brooch and earrings, sourced by designer vintage gurus, Sweet & Spark. Owner Jillian Bremer and her father, scour the world for period pieces that are too pretty to be left in the past. They take them in, clean them up, and set them free back into the world of wedding wear and everyday style. Brooches are back in a big way and I knew a pop of color would add a little interest to my look. A few more S&S favorites include this 50’s floral brooch and this pearl studded piece. Speaking of pearls, I chose to keep my earrings simple with 90’s pearl and gold studs. But if you’re in the market for something showstopping, these S&S earrings are loaded with plenty of detail and elegance.
3. Be Clutch: While we’re on the topic of accessorizing, an intricate, beaded clutch can elevate your look and add a bit a romance. This pink, vintage-inspired clutch acts as a neutral and is the perfect dash of glitz for any formal occasion. I also love this pearl option and this rose gold bag, both reasonably priced!
