Can you hear that?
The persistent underground hum of metal machinery. Cables working furiously to tug cable cars up and down the notoriously steep inclines. The threat of streetcar bells warning pedestrians to move or be crushed at an impressive 9.5 MPH. The chatter of young, eager tech and finance professionals on the way to the office. Their conversations filling the morning air with talk of career moves and the month’s hottest new start-up — or, more appropriately, their career move to the month’s hottest new start-up.
People say San Francisco is laid back, slow even. When you compare it to the traditional nature of a city like NYC, it might look that way. But after five years here, I can tell you it’s just the opposite. It’s bursting at the seams with ambition. I run into someone new everyday who inspires me. Whether it’s witnessing women, first-hand, transforming the tech industry or sharing an Uber with someone who’s dared to leave their job to pursue their passion, it’s clear this city dreams big.
There’s an energy here. A spirit of real gumption that’s so contagious, moving here means you’re likely to catch it.
Five years in and I’m showing all the symptoms. Welcome to the world, attn: To Detail!
San Francisco is known for its non-traditional weather patterns — and not just seasonally. The city is made up of many different micro-climates, keeping me on my toes and always on the lookout for adaptable pieces. So when I stumbled onto this double-breasted trench, I knew it would be the perfect addition to my wardrobe. Little did I know, it would quickly become one of my favorite purchases. Ever.
The light gray coloring and camel cuffs make it an easy day-to-night piece. The fabric is thicker than most trench coats making it my go-to for windy days downtown. To get a sense of sizing, I’m wearing a US 4. I’ve linked the outfit details below. I’d love to hear from you if you order the trench — I promise you won’t regret it!
