Each year on our wedding anniversary, Neema and I make a point to get out of the city and share a new experience together. Given we got married on the 4th of July (holiday weekend weddings ftw), we typically have an extra day or two to allocate towards our city-escapes. This year we decided to make the most of our 4-day weekend with a quick, 1.5-hour drive up north to wine country. If you’ve visited the Healdsburg area, you may have heard of the Farmhouse Inn – a tranquil, country-style getaway tucked back into the trees of Forestville. Just 15 minutes from the wineries of Healdsburg (and the town of Forestville boasting several too), we knew this place was just what we needed.
Upon arriving we were greeted by an innkeeper holding two glasses of bubbly and a friendly orange kitten — also known to the staff as “Baby G” . After a quick tour of the grounds, we walked to what would be our “home” for the next few days, knowing we were in for a treat. The room was chock-full of cottage charm and luxurious details.
After settling in we joined other guests for the daily wine tasting before slipping into our robes and off to the spa for a massage. It was so relaxing I’m honestly surprised we even made it to dinner. Which by the way, the Farmhouse Inn Restaurant absolutely lived up to its rave reviews. And just in case the complimentary after-dinner s’mores didn’t satisfy our sweet tooth, there were chocolate-chunk cookies and milk waiting by our bedside each night. I
definitely may have gained 5 pounds overindulged. Farmhouse Inn is all about the details, especially the delicious ones!
While we spent our first day on the Farmhouse grounds, we went to several vineyards over the course of the weekend including Jordan, Arista. and MacRostie wineries. More to come on our experiences there! Overall, our long weekend Farmhouse Inn couldn’t have been more relaxing and the perfect way to celebrate our anniversary!
